Calvin Straub, F.A.I.A.
Calvin Straub was a dynamic force, personally and professionally. He was an important influence on the design direction of the USC School of Architecture in the forties, fifties and sixties, with a strong aesthetic connection to Harwell Harris. In addition Cal was a very charismatic and popular educator and lecturer. His influence should not be under estimated. Straub was one of their instructors who initiated the Buff, Straub & Hensman partnership.in 1952.
Straub was very influential in the early partnership through his design talent, gregarious personality and and fine reputation among architects.
In 1963 Straub moved to Arizona to accomodate his wife's health issues and to take a position at Arizona State University.
He continued to be a rousing instructor and lecturer and maintained an architectural practice until his death in 1990.
